The presentation Enterprise Data Management Maturity Model describes a model for evaluating the maturity of data management processes of an organization, and the process for conducting a maturity evaluation. It traces the genesis and evolution of the maturity model and describes a template for six high level functions of enterprise-wide data management (including eight role types and associated responsibilities) which is the foundation for the key process areas used to evaluate enterprise data management maturity. Finally, the presentation will summarize several applications of the maturity model.
Mr. Parker is solution-oriented consultant with over 35 years experience in conducting or supervising systems requirements analysis, design, specification, prototyping, documentation, and functional operations efforts for a variety of decision support and management information systems. Most recent experience focuses on enterprise data management with emphasis on data management program and organizational development, data management process improvement, metadata management, data standardization, and metadata development and operation. Strengths include a strong understanding of the uses of information management skills and tools as a means to solve enterprise business problems. Skills include effective team building, incisive analytic ability, and exceptional interpersonal and communications skills. Other areas of expertise include: enterprise-wide process and data modeling, configuration management, logistics, organizational analysis, and data management maturity (DMM) process improvements. In-depth technical expertise includes: national and international information and data management related standards, metadata registry standards and implementations, and the enterprise-wide data management framework.
Mr. Parker has been an invited speaker at numerous conferences and symposia. He is a member of ANSI sponsored committee for Metadata (NCITS-L8) and was the editor of the current ANSI standards for representation of time and date for interchange. He is also the registrar for the ISO/IEC 11179 standards-based Intelligent Transportation Systems Data Registry and the registry administrator for the Federal Aviation Administration Data Registry.
Mr. Parker holds an M.B.A (Operations Research, Systems Analysis) from the University of Michigan and a B.S. (Electro-mechanical Engineering) from the University of Rhode Island. He is listed in National Registry of Who' Who - Executives and Professionals and Kingston's Who's Who Registry. Mr. Parker is past member of the Data Management Association - International Board of Directors, with over four years service on the Board.
