A compare and contrast of:
- Operational (OLTP) vs. Informational (Analytical, DW, DM) Systems
- Relational vs. Dimensional Modeling
A what, why, how and where compare and contrast will be given.
- What, why where and how are they different? ... the same?
- What, why, where and how are they / should they be used?
Including:
- A brief tour of the historical and theoretical underpinnings of:
- Relational Data Bases
- Entity-Relationship (ER) Modeling
- An overview and synthesis of the 2 major Dimensional Modeling camps
- Inmon vs. Kimball.
