Real-Time Data Warehouse Development &
Deployment By Dr. Stephen
Brobst Stephen
Brobst is the Chief Technology Officer for Teradata Corporation. His
specialization is in the design and construction of data warehouse solutions for
Fortune 500 companies in the United States and internationally. Stephen
performed his graduate work in Computer Science at the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology where his Masters and PhD research focused on
high-performance parallel processing. He also completed an MBA with joint
course and thesis work at the Harvard Business School and the MIT Sloan
School of Management. Stephen has
authored numerous books and articles related to advanced data management
techniques. Stephen has been on the faculty of The Data Warehousing Institute
since 1996 and teaches courses related to Real-Time Data Warehousing and High
Performance Data Warehouse Design. Presentation Abstract Real-time
data warehousing is rapidly changing the landscape for deployment of decision
support capability. The challenges of supporting extreme service levels in
the areas of performance, availability, and data freshness demand new methods
for data warehouse construction. In this vendor agnostic presentation, particular
attention is paid to architectural topologies for successful implementation
and the role of frameworks for Enterprise Application Integration (EAI). In
this workshop we will discuss evolution of data warehousing technology and
new methods for meeting the associated service levels with each stage of
evolution. The
evolutionary steps from first generation data warehouse implementations to
real-time data warehouse deployment is provided as a means for incrementally
delivering business value in the path toward advanced decision support
capability. A vendor agnostic architectural framework for implementation of
enterprise data warehousing for deploying both strategic and tactical
decision support will be presented. Implementation of scalable solutions with
capability for near real-time data acquisition and mixed workload management
with aggressive service levels will be discussed with real customer scenarios
as case study examples.
